Little Turtle Island What are the achievements of Little Turtle Island Each year on the IOW, a four day camp was held, accomplishing a real feeling of native life within natural surroundings. Several of the youngsters attained a depth of knowledge so they were given a traditional Rite of Passage ceremony, leading them to adulthood. This involved a Sweat lodge and Vision Quest. Little Turtle Island took the children to visit Parkhurst Forest on the IOW in April and July 1998, where they experienced Tipi living, learnt to build survival shelters and investigated natural plants and herbs. At workshops and camp visits they had opportunities to craft items and clothing using traditional techniques. EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROFILE
